We are a society of investors. Americans now put more money into investments each year than into savings accounts.

Unfortunately, millions of dollars are lost by Oregon investors through securities fraud or an investors failure to fully educate themselves on particular issues. Frequently, these losses are from savings that have been painstakingly accumulated over many years or retirement funds that can't be replaced. Victims are of all ages and levels of sophistication. In the majority of these losses, none of the investors money is ever recovered.

To counter these losses, securities regulators at the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services have established the Investor Information Program. The Investor Information Program shares information about investments and securities with those seeking to make informed investment decisions.

The Investor Information Program provides publications on a variety of investment-related topics, including small-business investments, stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. The program also provides speakers to groups of 10 or more for workshops, seminars, and presentations and has been active in creating public service announcements.
